Alabama: Certified contractors are required to acquire eight credit hours of continuing education over a two-year period. The Board may require certified contractors to submit proof of compliance with the continuing education requirement on an annual basis to allow the Board to maintain its records regarding continuing education attendance of each certified contractor.
HVAC Contractor 8 Hour Package for Alabama Contractor- This includes the following courses: Business Ethics, Electrical Fundamentals, Refrigeration Basics I
Alaska: Alaska contractors can choose from four complete packages, the RSES Library and 29 NATE recognized, accredited courses to include: nine Air Conditioning Fundamentals courses, several safety courses for HVACR technicians, twelve courses related to Electricity for the HVACR technician. The Regulation of Construction contractors does not presently require any continuing education for license renewal at this time.
Arizona: While the Registrar of Contractor's doesn’t require any continuing education for licenses at this time, you may receive credit for technical training, apprenticeship training or education which may be substituted for a portion of the required four years of practical experience. Check with your state for a complete description of requirements.
California: There is an exam required for a contractor’s license. Renewal is biennially based on the date of initial issuance. Currently, there are not any continuing education requirements for California contractors. We have several courses and packages to help keep you up-to-date.
Colorado: Renewal for electrical contractors is February 28th of odd years; plumbing contractor renewals occur August 31st of odd years. Continuing Education will give you the advantage of being knowledgeable and well informed. Colorado does not have any contractor continuing education requirements. No state license is required for General Contractors.
Florida: The State of Florida requires fourteen hours board-approved continuing education each biennium prior to the renewal period for both certified and registered contractors. "At least one hour must deal with workplace safety, one hour on the subject of worker's compensation, one hour on the subject of business practices and one hour on Florida Building Code advanced modules." A person who holds more than one certificate or registration issued by the board is required to complete the continuing education requirements only once during each biennial certification renewal period and only once during each biennial registration period.
Wind Mitigation: 1.0 hrs, $20.00: This is a one hour course designed to present changes made in legislation; to elaborate on rules and law. Mitigation Techniques: gable-end bracing, secondary water barriers, roof to wall connections, roof-decking attachments and fasteners, opening protections.
Florida Workers' Compensation Law: 1.0 hrs, $20.00: One hour course designed to present rule changes as of November, 2007.
Indiana: Plumbing contractors must renew licenses biennially based on the date of the initial issuance. YouTrainOnline.com offers four Packages, the RSES library and 30 courses to all contractors. Please check with your state for any CE requirements.
Kansas: Kansas does not have contractor license for construction contractors at the state level, contractors must check licensing and continuing education requirements at the local level. YouTrainOnline.com offers four Packages, the RSES library and 30 courses to all contractors.
Kentucky: The Board of HVAC Contractors does not allow any online courses to satisfy continuing education requirements at this time. Please check with your state for requirements. YouTrainOnline.com offers four Packages, the RSES library and 30 courses to all contractors.
Louisiana: Louisiana Board does not officially approve or endorse any continuing education providers; however, our course materials have been submitted to the Board and deemed acceptable for their Residential Contractors License.
Four Hour Louisiana Contractors Package: this course provides a basic understanding of OSHA standards regarding process safety management of highly hazardous chemicals.
Mississippi: SMBOC is in the process of evaluating several forms of Continuing Education. Please check with the Mississippi State Board of Contractors for updates. YouTrainOnline.com offers four Packages, the RSES library and 30 courses to all contractors.
Montana: All construction contractors and subcontractors must register with the Department of Labor and Industry if they have employees. Please check with your state for licensing information and any Montana contractor continuing education requirements.
Nebraska: Nebraska requires that contractors doing business in counties with populations over 100,000 to be licensed. All electricians are required to be licensed. Ohio: Ohio requires contractors to complete 10 Classroom Hours of continuing education per renewal period. Distance learning is not accepted. Texas: Texas Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors: All Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors are required to take 8 hrs of TDLR approved continuing education every year. Of those, 2 hrs must be in Texas Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Laws. Texas Auctioneers: For holders of Auctioneer and Associate Auctioneer licenses expiring on or after January 1, 2006, six hours of TDLR approved continuing education courses will be required to renew that license. Two of these hours must be in instruction in laws and rules that regulate the conduct of auctioneers and associate auctioneers. The other four hours must be courses taken in one or more of the following subjects:
- Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1802, Auctioneers.
- Title 16, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 67, Auctioneers Administrative Rules.
- Other laws and rules that regulate the conduct of auctioneers and associate auctioneers.
- Auction-related laws, such as the Uniform commercial code - Sales, Title 1, Chapter 2, Texas Business and Commerce Code 2.328 and the Deceptive Trade Practices - Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 17, Subchapter E, Texas Business and Commerce Code.
- Business practices, such as insurance, auction ethics, contracts, maintenance of trust accounts, and marketing.
Wisconsin: Plumbing contractors are required to take 12 hrs of Continuing Education by Dec. 31, 2008. All courses must be approved by the Dept. of Commerce.
